Hand-cast plaster architectural model of the Odeon Cinema in Blackpool. Includes an architectural drawing-style postcard.

Miniature architectural model, hand-cast from reinforced plaster.
Comes gift boxed and includes a technical drawing style postcard. Hand-signed by the artist.

Built in the centre of the seaside resort town in 1939, the Blackpool Odeon was one of the chain’s later constructions before its takeover by the Rank Organisation, and boasted the largest audience capacity of any cinema in the chain, with an immense facade evoking a proscenium arch, and a large tower replete with signage to maximise the brand’s visibility across the town.

The cinema was subdivided in 1975 and continued operations until 1998, before being acquired by the businessman Basil Newby, who renovated the building into its current incarnation as a venue for the ‘Funny Girls’ drag show and cabaret.
