Miniature architectural model of the Beishan Broadcasting Wall – a propaganda loudspeaker on the island of Kinmen.
Hand-cast in plaster and comes with an aluminium + cotton flag.

The Beishan Broadcasting wall was a 3-storey concrete structure built on Kinmen’s Northern coastline that made use of an array of 48 loudspeakers to blast propaganda towards the Chinese coastline a mere 6km away. The site was constructed as part of a military strategy of psychological warfare initiated during the heightened tensions in the decades following the Second Taiwan Strait Crisis.
Broadcasts consisted of impassioned speeches highlighting the freedoms of democracy, alongside popular music, notably featuring songs by famous Taiwanese artist Teresa Teng.
Transmissions stopped in the early 1990s with the island’s increased demilitarisation, though have recommenced in more recent years at a much lower volume for tourism purposes.

Please note that because all models are cast and finished by hand, each model is unique, and due to the nature of the material some small defects and imperfections will be present.
Base heights and colours may also vary slightly between batches.
