This obscure theater lies in the small town of Wandan in Southern Taiwan’s Pingtong County. Being the latterly constructed of its two cinemas, it likely competed with the extant, colonial-era ‘Mianfeng’ Theater nearby which also still survives, albeit barely recognisable after being remodelled into a supermarket.
Architecturally Xinruifeng’s most notable feature is its curious arrangement of ancillary windows on the facade, consisting of irregularly spaced oblong, triangular, and trapezoidal shapes.
As of 2024, the structure itself currently exists in a derelict state, almost certainly due to complex property co-ownership rights – a recurring issue with older properties throughout Taiwan as absentee tenants prevent a majority concensus from being reached on any decisions made.
