One of Taiwan’s most renowned old cinemas, Xiluo Theater’s handsome, baroque-inspired architecture embodies the glory of the 1950s/60s golden-age of cinema in which it flourished. Originally financed by the local Lin family with wealth derived from their successful trading business, the building’s current incarnation is actually a rebuild of an earlier theater dating back to 1928 as Xiluo was establishing itself as a major trading hub.
During the 1970s it primarily screened National films and operated as a hireable venue for school and military ceremonies, before declining in the 1980s with increased local competition and the advent of home media.
Xiluo Theater was the first cinema in Taiwan to gain protected heritage status in 2001, though now lies derelict and decaying, with restoration an increasingly unlikely possibility.

Please note that as all items are dispatched from the UK, you may be liable to pay customs/import duty on your order.
